Anjou, the Loire Valley, Saumur are full of troglodyte sites because its limestone subsoil was the subject of numerous rock extractions several hundred years ago, this to build castles, houses etc ... but also to create spaces suitable for wine breeding, mushroom cultivation but also the creation of habitats.

There are of course very close by the sites of Rochemenier, Doué la Fontaine and the mysteries of the faluns, the terrestrial helix, Richard Rak etc ... but at La Cotinière you will have the chance to spend time in our troglodytes completely renovated in 2023.

Two new spaces are available to you

  • A 60 m² room. You can settle in for moments of reading, rest, have a drink, picnic... This space will also be used to organize tastings, meals, theme evenings. If you want to reserve it for family meetings, with friends during your stay, contact us!
  • An old habitat. A long time ago, people lived there as evidenced by the bread oven in perfect condition! This space is generally reserved for tenants of the l'Orée des fleurs gite but we will be delighted to show you around! It is a very unusual place completely renovated in 2023, composed of a cozy lounge area, a living room with a bread oven. We have installed an armchair, chair, table there. A beautiful naturally air-conditioned space for your moments of rest, meals, games!
